Today, pupils from P1 to P6 enjoyed a Diwali workshop, organised by Derry City Council. They were introduced to the festival of Diwali, its importance and how members of the Hindi community celebrate during this time. Pupils made lanterns and learnt about how the Hindi community honour Lokshimi, the goddess of wealth. Some classes even learnt a Bollywood style dance which was great! Thanks to Josie and Ash, the workshop facilitators, for their wonderful enthusiasm and their sense of fun :)
