First Holy Communion 11/5/24

11th May 2024

Oh what a wonderful morning! Congratulations to the boys and girls who made their First Holy Communion this morning in St. Mary’s Church, Altinure.  Our Year Four children received the Sacrament of the Eucharist with grace and joy during a very special Mass.  Each boy and girl read their readings and prayers, sang and carried up the gifts and symbols and lit the candle with such reverence and confidence.  We are so very proud of you!  Our wonderful school choir sang beautifully and made the ceremony extra special. Afterwards, as the sun shone brightly, we were all treated to the ice cream van by Fr. McGavigan and tasty refreshments provided by the PTA. Thank you very much!

A special word of thanks to Fr. McGavigan for his visits, time, constant support and spiritual guidance, helping us prepare for this special day.  Thank you to Aine and Charlotte, our Faith Formation Coordinators for all their help, wonderful ideas and visits to our classroom. Thanks to Mrs Boyle, the Primary Four teacher, who prepared the boys and girls so thoroughly and also taught the choir, and of course, a huge thank you to our P5, 6 & 7 pupils who sang beautifully in the choir! Thanks also to our Year 4 classroom assistant, Alice for all her help. It was a very special morning indeed!

Thank you to Sinead Wilson for her wonderful flower arrangements on the altar. Thank you to our Primary 3 parents for providing the scones and sweet treats and to our wonderful PTA members Eimear and Louise, with help from Katie, Meabh, Seana and Anna, for organising and serving the refreshments.

Congratulations boys and girls! Have a wonderful day and God Bless. xxx
