First Holy Communion Retreat.
Today our Year 4 boys and girls joined together with their friends in St. Canice’s Feeny and St. Peter and St. Paul’s, Foreglen for a very special day of preparation for their First Holy Communion delivered by Charlotte, our Faith Formation Coordinator. It was a wonderful day filled with fun activities and prayerful reflection. We began our retreat by talking about God, then writing and drawing what He means to us. Later, there was a very imaginative opportunity to make a ‘Super Hero’ which had special gifts given by God. This was a lot of fun and there were some excellent inventions and ideas! We were then treated to a delicious lunch…..thanks to Fr. McGavigan. In a very reverent and reflective afternoon, the children were able to take part in some Guided Meditation, spending quiet time talking and listening to Jesus in their hearts and minds. The children wrote prayers to Jesus in thanksgiving for everything and everyone that blesses their lives. They are happy and so thankful that Jesus walks beside them everyday, on their journey through life. After a time of reflection, the children went to Fr. McGavigan for Confession. We would like to say a huge thank you to Charlotte for the wonderful day we had and for all her hard work, dedication and support throughout the year. Thank you to Fr. McGavigan for his constant help, interest and spiritual guidance in our Year 4 class and throughout the school. The children from here, in Altinure, will receive the Sacrament of First Holy Communion on the Saturday 28th of May. God Bless them on their special day.
